Creature Feature – Kids to Parks Day

Can turtles leave their shells? How many types of venomous snakes live in Georgia? Are salamanders reptiles? Learn the answers to all of these questions and more as a Panola Mountain Ranger introduces you to our reptilian residents in this live animal show. Meet in the Nature Center. Space is limited, so please call to register in advance.

Moonlight Mountain Hike

Join us for a ranger-led hike up Panola Mountain to enjoy the sunset over Atlanta. The moonlight will guide us down to a lakeside campfire where we’ll enjoy s’mores! Bring flashlights, bug spray, hiking boots and water. Ages 10 and up. Space is limited. Advance registration is required.

Join us for the 9th Annual Fayette County Earth Day Festival featuring fun and educational activities for the entire family. This annual event is a great opportunity for residents, of Fayette County and surrounding areas, to come together for the common good of the environment.

Junior Ranger Mini-Camp

Looking for something to do for Spring Break? Why not become a Junior Ranger? You can complete activities from the Junior Ranger book with a real Ranger to guide you. Join us 1 or 2 days to get started or come all three and receive your Junior Ranger Level 1 badge! Book and badge (upon completion of activities) are included.

Night Hike – Sensory Awareness

Try your nocturnal skills and join us in a night hike along the river to the observation tower. There will be a chance for you to partake in fun experiments to test your senses. Hike is 2 miles total on easy terrain. Bring a flashlight for safety, sturdy shoes, bug spray, and water. Pre-register.

3rd Annual Glow-N-Dark Easter Egg Hunt

Egg hunts are no long for the day. Join us for our third annual Glow-n-Dark egg hunt. Over 4,000 glowing eggs will fill the day use area. Join in before the hunt for carnival-style games and s’mores. Space is limited and will fill before the event. Call for reservations.

Easter Eggcitement at the Bend

Bring your baskets and camera; 1000 candy and prize filled eggs and the Easter bunny will be here. Age groups 0-4, 5-8, 9-12. After the hunt get drawing in the sidewalk chalk art contest. Chalk is provided. Ages groups 4-8 and 9-13, prizes for each age group announced at 3:30. Free finger painting for all ages.

Eggciting Hike Hunt

Peter Cottontail is leaving lots of eggs hidden on our nature trails. Can you help us find them all? Bring your basket and be ready for the hunt! Ages 2 and less, 3-6, and 7-12 will have their own trails to search for eggs and prizes. We will start the egg hunt at 10 AM, leaving plenty of time for story-time and crafts before lunch.

Intro to Tree Climbing

Join us “on rope” for an adventure exploring the canopy above. This is an introductory program to recreational tree climbing. Participants will use rope and harness to ascend into a 200 year old Southern Red Oak, where they can climb, swing, and scramble. Climbs start at 1 PM and 3 PM. Must call to register. Ages 8 and up.
