Story Time by the River

CNC storytellers will encourage your child’s participation by acting out the movements and sounds of storybook characters. With nature crafts, stories, songs and your child’s participation, we’ll make the best nature stories come alive.

Wildlife Feeding Time

Join a naturalist for an in-depth look at one of the Chattahoochee Nature Center’s resident animals as our Wildlife Department feeds them! Included with General Admission and free to CNC members

Field-based Map and Compass Navigation for Scouts

REI

In this class you’ll join other scouts and learn to read map contour lines and translate them to the actual terrain. With your compass we’ll teach you about magnetic north, true north and declination. Then we’ll put it all together to pinpoint your location and plan your route.

Homeschool Day

The Garden hosts an exciting day of tours and activities exclusively for homeschool groups and families. Supplement your life science, botanical and environmental studies curriculum by visiting a tropical rain forest, a desert house and a native pitcher plant bog. Tip-toe through the treetops on the Canopy Walk and observe edible plants in the Edible Garden.

Garden Tours
Drop-in Plant Diversity Tours take groups through the outdoor gardens and the Fuqua Conservatory to explore how plants can look very different. Meet in the Hardin Visitor Center at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., or 11:30 a.m. Tours last approximately 45 minutes.

Discovery Stations
Keep an eye out for fun and interactive stations around the Garden where your group can learn more about the garden’s living collections.

Storybook Reading
Come and listen to an assortment of garden stories at 10:30 a.m.

Presentations
Amphibian Diversity: Join us to learn about the diversity of amphibians. Meet in Mershon Hall at 10 a.m.
Killer Plants: Discover the various ways plants capture and digest insects and the reason for their unique appetites. Meet in Mershon Hall at 11 a.m.
Presentations last approximately 20 minutes.

Archaeology Day

Celebrate Georgia Archaeology Awareness month with archaeology-themed crafts, activities and special demonstrations. Georgia Archaeology Awareness Month is a state-wide initiative designed to promote public awareness, support learning and encourage preservation of Georgia’s  archaeological resources.

Endangered Species Day

Celebrate rate plants and animals in honor of Endangered Species Day! Come nose to nose with exceptional creatures and learn about conservation efforts happening throughout Georgia. Attend a tour led by Conservation staff at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. or 12 p.m. Free with Garden Admission.

Magic Monday: Down on the Farm

Toddlers and preschoolers join in on fun springtime activities down on the farm! Visit the sheep, goats, and chickens, and learn about farm chores like wool washing, blacksmithing, and open hearth cooking.

Each Magic Monday has a unique monthly theme and includes a guided exploration of one of our award-winning exhibitions, historic houses, or Goizueta Gardens, as well as demonstrations, arts and crafts projects, and story time. Join us for another exciting year and connect with old friends while meeting new ones.

Members are admitted for free. Admission is $6.50 adults; $5.50 children. Discounted rates are available for groups with ten or more children. For more information, please call 404.814.4110.

Wild Weekend

A day of all things wild! Activities include live animal encounters, educational displays, fun animal-themed games and crafts, interactive learning stations, and more.

Sheep to Shawl

Get a unique view into the process of cloth making though demonstrations and activities ranging from sheep shearing and dyeing to spinning and weaving. Gather the entire family for a full day of fun that also includes open hearth cooking, blacksmithing, candle making, and much more at Smith Family Farm.
