Gazing in the Garden
May 14, 2016 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Event Navigation
In partnership with the Oglethorpe Astronomical Association, enjoy the out-of-doors night with “space fun” and stargazing. It’s a fantastic ending to Astronomy Day!
After the mid-May sun sets at 8:16 pm and the sky darkens, the first-quarter moon becomes more visible and doesn’t set until around midnight. Join us on the Event Field for viewing of the waxing crescent moon, constellations and Milky Way Galaxy through various-size telescopes that Association members (or you) bring. The evening wraps up at 10 pm.
Dress for the evening weather, bring a favorite cold or hot beverage, lawn chair/blanket and snack basket (alcohol is prohibited). Be aware that fire ants may be under your blanket or chair on your particular chosen spot on the Event Field.
For specific information, direct all inquiries to Liz Lubrani at (912) 921-5460, ext. 202.
